Opera "The Demon" by A. Rubinstein

At the Center for Non-Ordinary Art (“NEO”), as part of the director’s laboratory of the St. Petersburg Musical Academic Youth Theater, a screening of Anton Rubinstein’s opera “The Demon” will take place. The opera was written in 1871 based on the poem by M.Yu. Lermontov. The plot is based on the legend of a demon who falls in love with a girl and suffers because of his love for a person.

The opera takes place in Georgia, and is characterized by magnificent national melodies and a deep psychological portrait of the main characters. "The Demon" is a typical representative of a romantic opera, where the emotions and inner world of the characters take center stage. Rubinstein created a bright and emotional work that makes the viewer think about the eternal themes of love, sacrifice and fate.
